Recently, the RSL commissioned a forensic inquiry into the financial processes and practices undertaken by Mr Rod White.
The inquiry was established to investigate the allegations into the payment of consultancy fees to Mr White during the period 2006 – 2016 where he held the following positions – President RSL NSW,
member RSL NSW State Council, RSL NSW Hon Treasurer and Director on the Board of RSL Life Care NSW.
The forensic investigation is being conducted by KordaMentha, a leading Australian organisation who specialises in these matters. The investigation has involved a detailed review and investigation into the financial management and governance arrangements undertaken by Mr White.
The initial report from the KordaMentha investigation has now been received by the RSL together with findings and recommendations. I have briefed the ACNC and forwarded a copy of the initial report findings to the regulators compliance team for their review. The RSL and KordaMentha will continue to work closely with the regulator to ensure there is a unified approach in dealing with these findings.
Due to the difficulties encountered by KordaMentha to retrieve documentation from the relevant people and RSL Life Care NSW further work will be undertaken by KordaMentha early in the new year to continue the investigation.
The RSL will continue to communicate and advise of any actions that may result from the findings as was our promise. The RSL will be conducting a media briefing this afternoon to share the initial findings with the media and the broader community.
