RSL Grants and Scholarships

The Returned & Service League of Australia (RSL) runs a number of grant and scholarship programs that help veterans and their families all over the world. Our program includes scholarships that have been established in memory of past veterans such as the first indigenous ranked solider Reg Saunders and nurses Mona Tait and May Hayman. These are gifts that keep giving as many provide education that enriches the lives of the student, their family and their community. Some of the grants and funding that may be awarded each year from the RSL Trust Funds include:

Medical Student Exchanges – sends three medical students, studying at the University of Sydney, on medical exchanges to Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Vietnam.

RSL War Veterans Homes and Welfare Australia Trust – contributes to programs that improve the welfare of Australian war veterans such as the Invictus Games.

RSL Foundation – provides grants for a range of programs that are aligned to the Objects of the League.

There are six major RSL scholarships that may be awarded each year to assist students in Australia and overseas to complete their studies. These annual scholarships include:

RSL Scholarships – two scholarships are awarded through the Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust to Australian students of service or ex-service personnel to complete tertiary studies in Australia.

Reg Saunders Scholarships – two scholarships for two Indigenous students to attend studies at the Batchelor Institute.

RSL New Guinea Campaign Scholarships – two scholarships for two New Guinean students to complete Year 11 and 12 at the Port Moresby Grammar School.
