RSL National Conference


The Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL) National Conference was held on Monday 6 June 2016. This year the Conference returned to Melbourne where the first meeting of the Returned Sailors’ and Soldiers’ Imperial League of Australia (RSSILA) was held in 1916. Over 300 delegates joined us at the event to commemorate 100 years of RSL helping serving and ex-service personnel and their families.

On Sunday 5 June, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at The Shrine of Remembrance with several digitaries laying wreaths with the National President, Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition. The next day the Centenary Conference was opened by Sir Peter Cosgrove, Governor-General who presented the ANZAC Peace Prize to Peter Greste. This was followed by addresses from The Hon.
